Bet on it

By Armand Banooni

Lon Solo let the data pad drop to the desk with a sigh. He had hoped the Emporer would just take the message and be happy, but now he had to find the source. He had the Emporer's considerable interest. Needless to say he didn't want it. He should have just stayed a smaggler (a damn good smuggler) and not tried to play the rescuer. Though you could bet there would be trouble with the Emporer in the future (he just had a bad feeling about it), he wouldn't worry about that now, He knew he should stay away from the games, but he was planning to once again go against his better judgement. If he could just get a message to her to be ready...

Lon watched the games and was quite pleased that he was still able to pick a winning "horse" as it were. He had turned a tidy profit betting on the combatants and was still waiting to hear and see Psylocke fight. Part of him didn't want to see it, but he also knew he had to. Whoever escorted her out of the arena after she won the fight (she had to win, she just had to and that was that) would likely know where her cell was and could probably be bribed. The fight Psylocke would be in would be the one where he would really cleaned up. He planned to bet all his winnings then and possible come out ahead in this one. He stopped musing as the crowd cheered wildly even before Psylocke's name was announced. He goes nothing...
