A Dance For Two

By Ginna and Manda Wilcoxen

[Timeline: Towards end of January,04.]

Xanatos walked over to Victoria after Octavia left. "Lady Victoria."

"Lord Du'Cruet," Victoria said, nodding her head a bit.

"Would you like to dance?" he asked, his ice blue eyes sparkling.

A thin brow lifted, as she nodded. "Sure. Why not?" She held her hand out
like how she saw some others do earlier.

Xanatos took her hand and bowed. "You look lovely, you should dress like
this more often."

She stood up. "Why thank you, you should let Lady Christine dress you
more often."

Xanatos laughed. "Touché'"

"Indeed. Enjoying yourself?"

"Yes I am. Yourself?" he asked as he swung her out onto the dance floor.

"Can't say I'm not." She smiled.

"I saw you talking to Octavia earlier, things better between the two of
you?"

"They're getting there." She put a hand on his shoulder as they danced.
"So, I never did understand what made you stop from wanting to kill my
poor aunt. Surely it couldn't been all my mother that stopped you."

He gave her a mischievous grin. "No, it wasn't. I hate to waste
resources, Victoria, and at the time I saw her as a way to hurt the Jedi
and my former Master, her grandfather. My goal was to turn her dark, to
destroy what she represented," he answered truthfully.

"Hmm. Well, you didn't destroy what she represents, even if she isn't
with the Jedi anymore^Åthank the Force."

"No, I didn't and I'm glad that I didn't. She's happier this way."

Victoria nodded. "I must agree."

"What about you, what have you been doing since our apple tossing
affair?"

"Trying to stay out of trouble."

"That is always a good goal. One you never stop working at," he said good
naturally.

"You think so too, eh?"

He moved her around the dance floor. "Yes I do."

"Speaking of staying out of trouble^Åhow are you managing?" Victoria
smiled a little.

"I'm managing to limit that ability. I haven't been taken to task in over
a month." He smiled at her.

"Ooh. A record."

He couldn't help but chuckle. "Yes, it is. So, when do we get to attend
your handfasting?"

She glared at him. "I wouldn't hold my breath for it to be any time
soon."

Laughing he looked at her. "I find it hard to believe that no one has
taken an interest in you. I'm sure
there had to be some interest."

Victoria shook her head. "And that's fine by me. Everyone else wants to
get married right away. But me? Me, I can wait. Believe me."

"Not in a hurry then," he teased. "I mean look at your brother. Soon
you'll be an aunt if everything goes well with Lady Anna."

"Better him than me. Being a possible aunt is one thing a.. erm yeah,
is another."

"You'll change your mind one day."

She stuck her tongue out at him.

Xanatos laughed, his eyes twinkling. "Such Lady-like behavior my dear."

"You're enjoying this too much, you know that?" She made it more of a
statement than a question.

"Guilty as charged." he admitted as the music stopped. "Can I get you
anything?" he asked as he led her back to her table.

"No, but thank you for the offer."

"Thank you for the dance. Enjoy your evening." He raised her hand to kiss
the back of it.

She bowed her head slightly. "Enjoy yours, Lord Du'Cruet."

"I will your highness, thank you again." He winked at her and smiled as
he turned to leave.
