Even Smugglers Make Mistakes, Part 4 (of 4) by April Randall, Ginna Wilcoxen, and Amanda Wilcoxen The ships landed on the platform and a dark cloaked figure exited the ship walking toward Mia's ship. He leaned on what appeared to be a cane. "Stay here," Mia instructed Medenna as they stood at the hatch. She left Medenna with the Force collar on and cuffed to a bulkhead, under the watch of one of her crew. She stepped onto the landing platform. "You have her?" "Yes." Mia looked the man over, assessing him and trying to glean information. "Who are you?" she asked, keeping her voice flat. "I told you before, can I have Medenna?" "I want your name." "My name ... is Daren, Daren Cruet. Now if you will give me the child so I return her to her father." "Too bad Medenna's father doesn't have an employee by the name of Daren Cruet," Mia said in a hard voice. "Who are you and what do you want with Medenna La'Rose?" Xanatos smiled, pulling Mia toward him, using the Force. "I'm an old friend, I told you that. NOW give me the girl or die." Mia struggled against his powers, trying to glare at him but feeling panic build inside of her. How could she have been so blind? "You're not an old friend," she accused, still trying to struggle. "I'm very old. NOW release the girl or you die as well as all your shipmates." "You wouldn't dare." Xanatos raised his arm as winged creatures left his ship. "I would dare much." The creatures jumped up on the ship. "Their claws will tear through the hull, now give me the Jedi brat." "What are those things?" Mia asked as she watched them fly through the air and land on her ship. She stared at the man in growing horror. "Just a few friends of mine. Very hungry friends." "Who are you?" she demanded. "My name is Xanatos, now don't get a conscience on me and hand over what you were contracted to do." "Do you think I'm stupid, that I want to bring the Jedi down on my head?" she hissed at him. "If you do not give me what you have been paid to do, then you won't have to worry, you will be dead and she will still be mine." "If you kill me, you will be hunted down," she threatened angrily. "No one tells me what to do, Xanatos." She spat out his name. He motioned, smiling as the creatures began to cut through the ship. "I had thought you had honor as someone being paid." Mia turned to look at her ship, then whirled back on Xanatos. "Stop it!" she cried out. "Give me the girl." "What are you going to do to her?" she asked quickly. "Nothing for you to worry about." He began applying pressure to her body, "Now, bring her to me." Mia cringed at the sudden pressure. She had a feeling that he would easily crush her if in the mood to do so. "Get those things off my ship and we'll talk about it," she said through gritted teeth. "Give me the girl and I'll consider it." "Get those things off my ship first!" "You are in no position to ask any favors from me." The pressure was building everywhere . . . but worse, inside her head, becoming unbearable. It was like her head was being slowly crushed together. "Stop!! I'll get her!" Mia finally cried out. Xanatos released her. "Then bring her to me." Mia stumbled backwards and caught herself before she hit the platform. She glared at Xanatos as well as she could, even though her head was pounding. She walked slowly back to the hatch of her ship, forming a quick plan. "Get those things *off,* Xanatos!" she yelled back at him as she reached the hatch. The hatch didn't move. Pressure increased on her body. "Did you think I wasn't prepared?" Mia tried to fight against the pressure but it was useless. She leaned against the side of the ship to stop herself from falling over. "I'm opening the hatch, you backstabber!" Slowly, the hatch began to lower. "Just a reminder." "I don't need any reminders," Mia said in a low voice, along with a string of profanities. The hatch hit the landing platform and Mia looked at Medenna, then back at Xanatos. "If you want her, you'll have to come get her." Xanatos smiled and waved, his hand releasing her from the bulkhead. Medenna looked at Mia and seeing if there was anything she could do to help her. "Are you alright?" She reached out to touch her. "What's happening?" "I'm sorry, Medenna," Mia said in a low voice, cringing at her headache again. "How can I help you?" Medenna reached out for her. "Just try to get away," she hissed out, watching Xanatos to see what he was going to do. "Take off the Force collar, the crewman watching you will help." Medenna stood still as the crewman helped remove the collar. *I'm waiting,* Xanatos' voice boomed inside Mia's head. Mia cried out in pain. "Come and get her yourself!" she yelled as best she could. "And if you don't stop hurting me I swear you're going to be sorry." Medenna shook her head. "I need to help you." she used the force to remove some of Mia's pain. Mia sighed with relief as some of the pain was gone. "I guess Force users aren't so bad after all." Medenna grinned knowingly. "Now you see that." "Yeah, a little too late for that... You need to get out of here." "I won't leave you here alone to defend yourself, especially against him." Mia groaned. "You little brat. Just leave! He's not after me, he's after you. I'm sorry I was so stupid. But even smugglers make mistakes." "Medenna!" Xanatos yelled. "IF you do not give yourself up to me, these people will die." "What do you want?" Medenna yelled. "You, decide little Jedi." "What game are you playing now?" "The one that is quite serious." "Believe me, he's a jerk," Mia said, feeling some of her strength beginning to return, but still leaning against the hull. "Not someone you want to go play Force games with." "You are playing for these smugglers lives, surely you as a Jedi cannot allow them to be harmed." "He wouldn't really do it, would he?" Mia asked, fingering the blaster on her belt. "What do you want?" Medenna looked at Mia for a few seconds. "For you to come down here and come with me." "How do I know if I come down these people will be left unharmed." "I would give you my word, but I doubt if you will take that." He motioned to the creatures who left the ship. "I've recalled my pets, now it's up to you." Medenna took in a deep breath and looked in the direction of the landing ramp. "I'm coming down." Xanatos took a step back, "I'm waiting." "Medenna, you brat!" Mia stepped forward to stop her. "You can't go! He's going to kill you!" "He's going to kill you if I don't' do anything. I've got to go." "I can protect myself, Jedi brat. And if you don't protect yourself, I will," Mia said firmly. "I'm not going to let you get yourself hurt ... again." "*Let* myself get hurt?" Mia asked. "It was all part of my plan, brat. And all I need is one good shot at him..." She began to slowly pull her blaster out of its holster. Medenna put her hand over Mia's "You don't know what you are up against, listen to this BRAT for once." "Well, what is he? Some kind of mutant Jedi or something? What he did to me *hurt.*" Mia rubbed at her head. "You are disappointing me Medenna, I will give you a few more seconds, if I don't see you I'll destroy the ship. Mia swore under her breath. "He wouldn't dare." "Yes, he would." Medenna stated walking down the ramp. "Medenna!" Mia yelled, grabbing the other girl's arm. "What you're doing is stupid! I'm not going to let you go with him!" "What I'm doing is not stupid. It's called saving your life as your crew's life." Mia felt a hard push as if she was kicked in the middle, forcing her backward and away from Medenna. Mia stumbled backwards, crashing into the hull. She was left doubled over, gasping for air. Medenna continued down the plank to be met by Xanatos. "Nice to see you again, Jedi." "If you're not going to kill him, then I will," Mia wheezed, pulling her blaster out of its holster. Medenna used the Force to knock it to the side. *You'll get yourself killed.* "Shut up!" Mia tried to get to her blaster. Xanatos used the Force to break Mia's wrist. *Be smart, learn your PLACE.* Mia cried out and collapsed to the ground from the pain, still trying to control her breathing and cradling her wrist. "Leave her alone, you have me now...." Medenna spat. Xanatos looks at her. "Very well. For you I will keep my word," he moved, waving his arm toward his ship. "Medenna, don't do it!" Mia yelled. Xanatos waved goodbye as they entered his ship and it took off. Mia scrambled to her feet, swearing loudly. She turned, only to be met by the large scratches and marks on the hull of her -- or rather, Brodin's ship. "Someday, you're going to be sorry, Xanatos," she said in a low voice. "It may not be today, or tomorrow, but someday you'll pay." As she walked up the hatch onto her ship, Mia made one more declaration. "I hate Force users." _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TRANSMISSION FROM: "Alliana 701" TO: The FoE Role-Play list Remember: Please send all non-Role-Play to the General Club list foe@deathstar.org If you have any problems or questions, please send them to: cantina-owner@deathstar.org
