The doors below her hissed open quietly and a dark figure walked in silently. Medenna didn't notice, her eyes were still closed and she had started to doze off. "My, my, my, pretty little Jedi all in a row," a female voice chuckled darkly. Medenna thought she heard something, but she dismissed it. Mikala frowned. They were asleep or unconscious. Either way they were no fun. She pulled a small control out of the pocket of her coat and thumbed a small switch. A jolt electricity shot through the two pods jerking both of the young Jedi awake with a cry. Medenna glanced around, then eyed the newcomer. "That's better," Mikala Volaris said, smiling. I'm not going to like this, am I? Medenna thought to herself. "Now," the woman said. "How are we doing, pets?" The younger girl glanced over at Kali. "We need water," Kali told her. "Xanatos said he wanted us alive for bait, but we won't be very good bait if we're dead from dehydration." Medenna watched the other woman. The dark woman sighed. "You'll not die from that just yet," she said, fingering the device in her hand. "And I don't take orders, Jedi," she snarled pressing down a button. Kaliandra's body arched as spidery fingers of electricity played along her body. "STOP IT!" Medenna shouted at the woman. "You want some of this, pet?" Mikala asked, looking over at the younger girl. "What do you want?!" The woman's smiled turned feral. "To see you die, but Xanatos said I can't do that just yet." She took her thumb off the switch and Kaliandra went limp with a pained moan. Medenna glared at her. Mikala chuckled. "Oh, such a pleasant little Jedi, aren't you?" "I don't hurt innocent people." Kaliandra struggled to open her eyes and focus on them. "Don't you now?" she asked. "No, Jedi is innocent." She ran her thumb over the switch again. "I wonder how much she can take before she passes out?" Medenna swallowed hard. "What do you have against the Jedi?" "Nothing, except they nearly destroyed my Grandmother." "They wouldn't do that!" "Wouldn't they," she snorted. "They turned her out into the streets of Coruscant to fend for herself and she was just a child! Nearly the same age as you, just because she didn't agree with what her Master was teaching her. The Jedi are weak fools and deserve nothing but contempt and extinction," she spit, punching her thumb down on the control again. Kaliandra's body jerked with a scream. "LEAVE HER ALONE!" "Enough!" another voice bellowed. "Mikala, stop. I need them alive!" Xanatos stepped out of the shadows. Medenna looked at Xanatos, then glanced over at Kali. The electrical field around Kaliandra snapped off with a crackle and the young woman went limp again moaning and breathing raggedly. She felt so helpless! She wanted to help Kali, yet she couldn't move. Xanatos glared at Mikala. "Go." She returned the glare darkly. "Fine," she snapped turning on her heel and stomping away. Medenna glanced at Xanatos. Xanatos shook his head. "As much fun as it would be to kill you both right now--" He sighed and walked out, the door hissing closed behind him. Medenna looked back over to Kali. "Kali?!" The young woman panted, struggling to breath. Force! Medenna hated not being able to do anything to help her. Kaliandra coughed and dragged in a ragged breath. "Yeah?" she moaned weakly. "Nothing...just wanted to make sure you're still with me." "St...still...here," she whispered. "Good," the younger girl said softly. "I...I...I...don't...feel so hot," she managed softly. "Ssh...don't talk. Save your strength....you're going to need it." She coughed again. "Remind...me....never do that...again." "I will. Now don't talk." Kali closed her eyes and her breathing evened out. Medenna sighed to herself. The door hissed open again. The younger Jedi groaned as her body tensed. Two men in dark jumpsuits walked in pushing a small antigrav cart. They went to Kaliandra first and deactivated the pod, gently easing her out of it. Oh no! What are they doing?! "What are you doing to her?!" "Just checking her over to make sure she's alright," the one man said. Medenna really didn't believe him, but what else could she do? The one man checked the bandage on the young woman's foot while the other fixed a fluid unit to her and then gave her several injections. She watched them carefully. They worked on her until the unit finished and then they put her back into the pod. At least they didn't hurt her anymore...she hoped. They moved to her pod next and moved to disengage it. The man who spoke with her before, looked up. "We're going to let you out for a minute to treat you and give you something to eat and drink." She watched him carefully. They eased her out gently, trying to be careful of her injured arm. Medenna fought to show no weakness. "Easy, child," the man snapped. "We're not going to hurt you, but you'll hurt yourself if you keep thrashing!" "I don't trust you!" "Fine, but stop fighting me or I'll sedate you and then treat you" She didn't listen to him. Despite how her ribs and her arm killed her, she still fought him. She had to find a way to get both her and Kali out of there! The man swore softly and reached for a hypospray. "Child, stop!" he growled, pressing the hypo against her throat. Medenna cried out. "Let me go!" "Give her a minute and that will kick in and she'll stop fighting," the man said. "Let...go..." she whispered before she went limp. "Finally," he sighed. "Give her an infusion unit like the other one." The other man nodded. They worked on her. Rehydrating her and checking her wounds. Once they had finished they eased her back into the pod, reactivating it. The men picked up their things, repacking the antigrav cart and then pushed it back out of the room. "Medenna?" Kali called in a slightly slurred voice. "What?" "You okay?" "Peachy...you?" "Sleepy." Medenna smiled slightly. Kali sighed deeply. "Go to sleep. I think they'll leave us alone for a while." "Hopefully..." "Sleep," the older girl said. Medenna closed her eyes. "Good," Kali said softly. "Gonna sleep too--" she said her voice fading away. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
