Forces of the Empire holds a Blaster Battle is held every year at MediaWest*Con. It is a live action role play. In other words, we get into costume and pretend that we are on a space station named Port Lansing in the Star Wars Universe for a weekend.Everyone creates characters, usually their characters from Forces of the Empire, LTD. but others are welcome as well, and we interact as our personae. Information on how to do the Blaster Battle Character Creation process is available from the Blaster Battle Coordinator.
At the convention, while role play occurs throughout the entire weekend, the highlights are the Saturday afternoon Skirmish (approximately 2 hours) and the Sunday night Blaster Battle (approximately 4 hours) itself. The Rebels and Imperials go at it in the halls of the hotel using toy blasters and lightsabers, trying to take and rescue prisoners, attack the opposing side's base, and achieve objectives set up by the Coordinator. The Mercs contract with one side or another, the Diplomats try to resolve the conflicts, and the Press is often present as well.
Individuals who are not members of FoE are welcome to join in the Blaster Battle, but you must be a member of MediawestCon to participate. All participants of the Blaster Battle are required to sign an acknowledgement of understanding of the rules of the game and attend a pre-battle briefing before they are allowed to play. Non-FoE members signed up for the Blaster Battle are made Associate members for the duration of the LARP (normally the entire convention weekend), and are expected to abide by the published rules of the game.
For more detailed information on the Blaster Battle and MediawestCon LARP contact the Blaster Battle Coordinator at the General Club Address, or at FoE-info@deathstar.org.
