GAME BOOK

Game Types:
AA (Alternate Amber) - It's Amber...sort of (i.e. Ambermaniacs)..
CR (Created Characters) - New characters will be generated at or prior to the convention.
EL (Elders) - Characters will be Elder Amberites from the books.
FF (Freeform) - A game run in near real time, does not have 'traditional' game structure.
NA (Non Amber Game) - Game does not take place in the Amber universe and is completely unrelated to Amber.
NC (New Campaign) - Game will continue at future conventions.
OC (Ongoing Campaign) - A continuing campaign played from year to year.
PG (Pre-generated Characters) - Characters are created by the GM.
SM (Seminar) - Event is a discussion of a specific topic, not a game.
SR (Series) - A series of separate, self-contained adventures, set in the same universe.
SW (Shared World) - Characters are from existing or defunct campaigns but their histories are modified so that they are all part of the same universe and are usually familiar with each other.
TW (Throne War) - Everyone tries to kill each other or form alliances to attain a goal.
XO (Crossover) - Characters are from existing or defunct campaigns and arrive from different universes with their history intact.

"I'm sorry, dave, I'm afraid I can't do that."

Welcome to the crew of the Discovery. Your official mission is to travel to the Jupiter system and look for life forms in the oceans of three of Jupiter's moons, including Europa. Is there a hidden agenda as well?

Like the novels that followed 2001, this game is "something much more complex than a straight forward sequel" -- it's set in a slightly parallel universe to both the movie and novel 2001. Things might turn out very differently. Perhaps HAL will behave himself this time. Perhaps.

Diceless house rules will be used. Player characters are astronauts Dave Bowman, Frank Poole, the three scientists cryonically frozen in the book & movie, Dr. Chandra (HAL's creator), and HAL. Anyone wanting to play HAL must contact the GM prior to the convention.

DESCRIPTION: Last year, the Box of Idiots™ provided the alcohol to get Amber smashed. This year, it's time to be more responsible. In the middle of a thirty-six hour shift in the emergency room, will you be ready with the cottage cheese for a man missing his gallbladder? What about a man choking on a wood chip? Or someone with their organs on the outside? See all this and more in the emergency room of the Amber County General Hospital. In the vein of such games as "Oberon's Gallbladder" and "Doctor Jellyfingers: Professional Proctologist," come see the "Monty Python" of Ambercon and more of their juvenile potty humor in this latest moronic classic.

RESTRICTIONS: Players must have a good sense of low-brow potty humor. Characters must have some connection with Amber.

DESCRIPTION: It was the best of times, and everybody knew it. Amber paid a terrible price in the Great War, but a sturdy peace was forged from it. Ghostwheel and Jale have bound Amber and Chaos together in a web of mutual dependence, powering a technological revolution -- and a threat of mutually assured destruction.

Now an unknown navy blockades Amber's harbor, while an army marches on Chaos. Has a new power stepped in to shatter the peace? Can you put the genie back in the bottle, or is this the beginning of the end? (See Also: The Day of Broken Branches.)

DESCRIPTION: With his crown, King Martin became titular head of the Church of the Unicorn, Hand of the Pattern, and Bearer of the Jewel of Judgment. No ruler in all Shadow has ever been so popular or overseen so long a period of peace and prosperity. His reign, much to the surprise of his aunts and uncles, has been marked by wise choices and even-handed rule, earning him their grudging respect.

On the eve of his bicentennial, who could possibly wish him ill?

Setting: 100 years after Patternfall, in an Amber where the hand of peace extended by Random and furthered during the reign of his son has been accepted by the Courts of Chaos to the benefit of all Shadow.

Characters: Partially pre-generated characters from Amber and Chaos will be provided. We will poll players for preferred character types by e-mail in advance of the game; if you won't have access to e-mail during the period two weeks before the con, please let us know.

This is a game for younger Amberites, who are known to Martin and able to enter Rebma without serious repercussions. Character should be about 125 points with basic Pattern free.

But now, the sky is darkened by hot ash that has been falling on the city and castle of Amber for three days. The sea is muddied and dying marine life continue to wash up on shore. Rebma is being evacuated and Amber is trying not to be buried. Reports say it's coming from the area of the Shadow-rift. Everyone is doing something to take care of the crisis in Amber. You and several others have been ordered by Prince Gérard to investigate, and if possible, stop the source of the fallout. [A game of some action, some problem solving, some confrontation, and lots of adventure.]

DESCRIPTION: Break out the needle guns, it's time for another Jerry Cornelius/Amber crossover! The year is 1976 and the Spaghetti God (better known as the Logrus) is not a Happy Bunny. All is not well in the garden that is his London. Chaos threatens his Order and this Chaos has a name -- it is Punk Rock. The battle lines are drown and society crumbles. It could spell the End of Everything. And what is Jerry C., the champion of the Logrus, doing about this? What he does best -- he parties in the ruins.

So once again the Spaghetti God has to call in the cavalry. Get ready to strap on your vibro guns, pull on your bondage wear and do battle yet again to save that unique Amber that is Cornelius.

DESCRIPTION: This is one of a series of "stand-alone" sessions linked together in a Shared World setting. Type of play is action, with lighter parts thrown in. This Underworld campaign has been run at Ambercon, Ambercon North and GenCon for many, many years and consists of a sequence of separate missions, therefore it is open to returning and new players.

Underworld is a diceless roleplaying game based in our world, except that, under the facade of media, politics, political correctness and "reality" there is an Underworld where strange things happen. These strange things are almost always hidden from or dismissed by the general public. The players are members of one of many organizations out there that have this information, compromised of people with psionic powers.

In recent missions, the players have acquired a sample of the DNA of England's Crown Prince, then were sent back to "borrow" the Crown Prince for three days. Other missions have taken players to the Anasazi "fortresses", Stonehenge, Paris (the Eiffel Tower will never be the same), art museums in Washington and London, Lake Michigan, Denver, Hong Kong, Vatican City and West Virginia.

Caer Corwin, Caer Gérard, and others stand proud. The king in Amber is Martin II, son of King Brian I (who went mad), son of King Martin I, son of King Random I.

A hundred years of peace have reigned since the last war with Chaos. That war remade some ancient artifacts, and changed the universe in the process. But Amber and Chaos remain, somewhat changed.

DESCRIPTION: This is one of a series of "stand-alone" sessions linked together in a Shared World setting. Type of play is action, with lighter parts thrown in. This Underworld campaign has been run at Ambercon, Ambercon North and GenCon for many, many years and consists of a sequence of separate missions, therefore it is open to returning and new players. Underworld is a diceless roleplaying game based in our world, except that, under the facade of media, politics, political correctness and "reality" there is an Underworld where strange things happen. These strange things are almost always hidden from or dismissed by the general public. The players are members of one of many organizations out there that have this information, compromised of people with psionic powers.

In recent missions, the players have acquired a sample of the DNA of England's Crown Prince, then were sent back to "borrow" the Crown Prince for three days. Other missions have taken players to the Anasazi "fortresses", Stonehenge, Paris (the Eiffel Tower will never be the same), Art Museums in Washington and London, Lake Michigan, Denver, Hong Kong and Vatican City.

DESCRIPTION: Based off the Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny, the hit 80's TV show, ShadowQuest attracted a large cult following. Its following did not stop it from being cancelled after a two-year run, however, and its principal stars have been unable to get a decent acting job since. Some have been able to land off-off-off Broadway roles or similar fare, but most have had to make due with guest appearances at science fiction conventions or Ambercons filled with fans of the series and (shudder) role-players.

Players will be portraying actors from the series. This will be a statless system. Players will contact the GM in advance with their top three choices for characters they would like to have portrayed from the series, and once given approval will write up a description of the actor who played the character. (No real actors, please. This ain't the casting thread.) The GM will contact players prior to the game with extenuating details.

Inspired by DC Comic's "The Doom That Came to Gotham" and Roger Zelazny's A Night in the Lonesome October, this game casts the players as the prominent residents and visitors to the town of Amber, Massachusetts, working towards the day when the stars align and the Elder Gods may return. Some seek to stop the return, some seek to aid, while others have agendas of their own.

Characters are pre-generated, and players will be contacted prior to the game with the available choices. Since this is a late-night slot, the game will basically proceed until the stars align or Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are proclaimed dead. Bring caffeine.

DESCRIPTION: For over one hundred centuries the gods of Vardia cared for the twelve nations

preserve their people but found it neccessary to return to Vardia. For thirteen days the sun did not shine and the poison rain fell upon the nations of the Silver Rose. Then it stopped as suddenly as they had started. The people rejoiced and prayed for the return of the gods but they did not come. It is believed that the gods sacrificed their physical selves so that the people would not perish. And this is why each land of the Silver Rose Nations revere their god to this day, some two hundred centuries after the thirteen days of night.

The humans of Wiermonken have rebelled against their against their weir masters in a gruesome and bloody revolution, with hundreds of weir dying each day under the silver blade of the guillotine. Amber has been torn over whether to intervene or let them destroy themselves, but a bank of Amber noblemen (and women...and things) have gathered together to liberate as many of the weir as they can. Many speculate as to the identity of these brave people who refer to themselves as nothing more but humble wayside flowers. This is to be a game of high adventure and daring do, where trickery and cleverness is lauded over application of brute force (unless it's really cool brute force). Players will portray the lesser nobility and gentry of Amber dedicated to the freeing of weir from Weirmonken. If the game wraps up early (ha!) players will be invited to a rousing round of "Baron Munchausen" to be played in the role of their Amber noble.

DESCRIPTION: Millennia after the Patternfall War, the people and events of that time have become myths and legends, but an ancient enemy, the Courts of Chaos, have returned to once again wage war against Amber. In their initial attack, the demons, supported by undead soldiers, overran the Golden Circle nation of Quatar in a matter of days and sent Amber and her allies into a state of confusion and panic. While the Regency Council of Amber debated the situation, the Arden Federation, in the name of the Prophet, seized control of Amber by sending Arden troops into the city with the tacit aid of the Amber military. A mere day after that event, Catherine Steelmaker, High Priestess of the Prophet, announced to the people that the Regency Council had elected her Regent of Amber, and that she would soon order a massive counterattack against the vile invaders.
