Merchant Captain and Investor

Pirate: "Ohe! What is your cargo, then?"

Mikusa: "Troops."

Pirate: "Smooth sailing to you!"

Mikusa is something of an eccentric in the xenophobic Tsolyani Empire. Although only 25, she has spent almost ten years travelling outside the Empire, and even enjoyed some of it. Perhaps three trips to Haida Pakala at a tender age would warp anyone. During the course of these wanderings, she has acquired several languages and an unusually wide (read: barbarian) outlook. This, combined with intense pragmatism and a sharp business sense, has made her wealthy beyond -- no, you can never have too much money.

La, she seems doomed to live in interesting times. While the Empire strains and rumbles through its dark night of civil unrest, Mikusa's personal fortunes are rising rapidly, as are her chances of coming to an untimely end. Thrown by the will of the Gods into the middle of a clandestine mission headed by Shekkara Tlakotani , she embarked, all unknowing, upon a course which would teach her more about swamps, the undead, and giant fish than she ever really wanted to know. As Mikusa says, "Don't ask me about vorodla -- or tekha."

When not narrowly avoiding a nasty and inglorious end as dinner for swamp life, Mikusa is busy dodging the cutting tongues and poisoned lips of her own clan elders. Her favorite brother, Tsodlan, has been exported from Bey Su, and she has more than a slight suspicion that he has been sent to cause Trouble. When not dueling or baiting stupid people, Tsodlan spends his time alternately bugging Mikusa to become the Head of the Nashomai lineage in Jakalla (after all, there are only two Nashomai in Jakalla, and she is the eldest), and doing something that Mikusa has yet to figure out. Oh well, maybe when she gets back from that Imperial Prison...
