Welcome, visitors, welcome! Please come right on in to my tavern. I'm so glad that you've decided to pay me a visit. I'm sure you'll be wanting to leave real soon - most people do. But I'll be glad to have you while you're willing to tolerate me. Who's me? I'm me, and you're you, and that's what makes both of us very happy. What's that? Oh, I misunderstood. In that case, introductions are in order. My name is D'Salyna Sea-Foam, She Who Smiles in the Face of Danger, Friend to the Friendless, Benevolent Gossip-Monger and the Best-Lanned of all Water Mephits! All that, and I run this Tavern and Meeting Place as well. The many chambers of the Soggy Mephit see all manner of important bloods. Why the friends I've made with my cheery disposition! Hmmm? You seem surprised to see a female mephit. That's quite alright; I've never heard of you either. Anyway, if you care to fork over the right amount of jink I'll set up a meeting with anyone you want. |
*AHEM* Well, that was tactless, yet rude. I thought I would do better with a female mephit, but it seems that D'Salyna is just as irritatingly jovial and tactless as the next Water Mephit. In order to smooth over any ruffled feathers she might have caused, let me continue with the introduction for my "People of Planescape" pages... In my "career" as a DM, I've found that one of the key elements to any setting are the people who populate it. I think that this is especially true with the Planescape setting. Why? Because many of the "people" a PC can talk to are such "monsters" as Fiends, Celestials, or even the direct servants of a god or two. The setting is so vast that anyone could be important - every single person on the street is unique in some manner and has a story to tell. Thus, in the course of my DMing, I have tried to provide at least a full physical description of each individual that my party has run into. Many of the NPCs I have created the party will never meet - these folks are just running around in the background, taking care of plots the PCs decided not to follow and generating the rumors they hear in taverns. Now, as you scroll through my cast of characters, you may notice that many of them are expansions upon NPCs that have already been created by TSR and appear in many of the source products, especially the modules. This is the case not because I am unoriginal, but because I know in advance which modules I want to run my party through. I've found that by introducing the NPCs from those modules long before I run the adventures, the modules blend more smoothly with the ideas that are wholely mine and they end up being more "real" to my players. It also makes for greater impact when the PCs have befriended an NPC whose only purpose for existing is to die suddenly, horribly, and visibly in a module. In addition to the numerous NPCs I have created, you will also find overviews of the player characters which have appeared in my campaign, "Luck of the Draw". And, for further embaressment (of the players) and entertainment (for you, the visitor), I have published a list of "notable quotes" from my campaign. I'll let the Lady Sea-Foam lead you around the various sections I have placed here. And don't worry about the money, I've taken care of your tab for you. | |

Thanks, Ken - you're so gracious. Well, then. We have three main rooms to the Soggy Mephit. Well, what are
you waiting for? Choose a doorway already so I can tell you all about the patrons who frequent the chambers beyond.

The Tap Room |
|
Since I run a tavern, getting folks drunk is an importnat business goal. And, as a mephit, I'm interested in
hearing all of the dirty little secrets that my customers let slip once they've imbided a few too many drinks.
You'd be surprised at some of things people say under the influence. (I'm not.) Beyond this door you'll hear
all of the interesting Quotes that have occured over the course of Ken's Planescape campaigns. Don't forget to
buy a drink while you're there - I am running a business.

The Guest Rooms |
|
Once you've gotten good and drunk, you'll need somewhere to pass out. The Soggy Mephit is more than willing to
provide. For a wide range of fees, I offer a wide range of rooms. Most of them are currently occupied by an
adventuring group or two. Due to the sheer number of guests that pass through my doors, I tormet - er, employ - a
Dust Mephit to act as the doorman for my guest rooms. He'll be more than depressed to tell about the current
Characters which call my tavern their home away from home. Currently, these chambers are occupied by beings
known as "Player Characters" who belong to an adventuring group known as The Fivers.

Muckraker's - A Dinner Theatre |
|
A girl's always got to keep her options open, especially her business ones. In order to expand the number of people
from which I can legally take money, I've opened a dinner theatre in the back of the tavern. While the shows aren't
that good, the food is. (At least, I can garauntee it's better than the writing.) Muckraker's is where all of the
really important people go to meet one another, talk to one another, and plot against one another. Besides the
usual collection of People (sometimes known as "Non-player Characters"), representatives from one Organization or
another stop by, as well as a few of what the Clueless refer to as "Monsters". Hey, I let anything in the door as
long as it pays its tab and behaves itself. Besides, the so-called monsters often smell better than my more human
customers.
