Location

This inn is located on Newt Street in the Guildhall Ward of Sigil.

Exterior Description

Everything about this establishment is plain, simple, functional, yet of quality workmanship. The building is a sturdy and unadorned structure built of Arborean oak and Arcadian fieldstone. It stands four stories tall in the middle of the block. Its name is depicted simply (and somewhat ominously) by the large iron cudgel which is mounted over the main doors.

Interior Description

The first floor of the inn is primarily taken up by the common room. The floor is smooth, but unworked, stone. The walls are simply the plastered interiors of the exterior ones. The ceiling is a little low, and supported by thick beams and rafters. Despite this spartan construction, the room is warm and comfortable. Several fireplaces are lit to keep away the constant chill of Sigil's weather, and the chairs are all built to provide comfort and rest. Plain, solid, practacle, comfortable. Further evidence of the establishment's name - and reminders that one should behave - is given by the various clubs and cudgels which are mounted over the fireplaces and the bar.

The remainder of the first floor is taken up by the kitchens, storage, and the "gentleman's room". This room is a small chamber off the common room that is reserved for guests of the inn. The furnishings here are of slightly more luxury - thin carpeting on the floor, half-panels on the walls, a bit of padding on the chairs - but still basic in nature. Here, guests may, in addition to the normal bill of fare, partake of a few wines and smoke a cigar or two, if the fancy strikes them.

The upper three floors of the inn are all taken up by guest rooms, nine per floor. The prices are inexpensive, but not cheap - just like the furnishings. These quarters are a safe place to stay where one can relax, but don't offer enough attraction to encourage one to stay any longer than is necessary.

Services

The Club serves as something of a haven from the hustle and bustle of the Market Ward. Its name is also more than just a reference to the preferred weapon on the owner - it's also a description of its purpose. This inn also serves as a neutral meeting place for several merchant cartels within Sigil. In addition to being a meeting place, the Club also serves hearty food at reasonable prices and provides a fairly decent mug of ale to go with it.

Overall, the business follows the philosophies of the owner: "Make things well enough to their job - and no more" and "The customer - while not always right - should get what he asks for".

Staff

The owner and innkeeper of the Club is Andho Blackroot (Pl/Hu/F5/CG/FL). Andho is a retired caravan guard who has personally wielded all of the trunchons which are scattered around the inn. As the business, he is plain and no-nonsense.

The "butler" for the gentleman's room is Portnoy (--/Flesh Golem/--/--/--). This construct serves to keep non-guests out of the chamber as well as to function as a manservant for those who are allowed to partake of the room's services.
