Of "Meadow Grove." .7 miles east of Marshall, VA on the south side of Rt 710.

It was built in 1820. It was part of a grant recieved by "Parson" Scott in 1736. This farm became Carter property when Fanny Scott of "Gordonsdale" married Edward Carter. It descended to their son, Richard Henry Carter, and to his daughters, Virginia and Eliza Carter, in 1843. The property was bought by J. Alexander Carter in 1892 (a son of Richard Henry).3
