Misc. Notes
"Woodland" was a Carter home build in the late 1700's. The seat of the farm was in Loudon Co, within sight of Sudley House in Fairfax to the East.

Of the pioneers of Sudley Methodist Church, Landon Carter was the largest landowner, the wealthiest, and was equalled in social standing in the original congregation only by his brother, William Fitzhugh Carter of Mountain View....
After the death of his uncle, Landon of Pittsylvania, Landon Carter of Woodland exerted more social and economic influence than did any other of the surviving Carters in the Sudley neighborhood."
Between 1760 and 1770, the sons of Landon Carter of Sabine Hall migrated from their home in Tidewater Virginia to Prince William and Fairfax Counties, which had become separate jurisdictions from their parent county of Stafford by that time.
