Also called John Henry, and on many records of St. Peter's (Old Stone) Church, called Henrick Dietz.
Must have arrived in Dutchess Co, NY before 1758, since Smith p. 184 mentions the Dietz family having settled in Milan by then. Milan was formerly called Northeast Town.3
In NY in the Revolution, he is listed as Prvt. in Dutchess Co. militia (LBR) 6th Reg, under Capt's Barlow, Head, and Reed.3
Henry is listed in the 1790 census, town of Northeast, with four males over 16 and five females. In 1800 census he listed, living with son Joseph, with wife still living. The Teats/Dietz family owned land in Milan and a family cemetery was established on a corner of their farm. THere is an iron fence around it and a sign on the gate "1829 TEATS 1915." Records of the Dutch Reformed Church, Rhinebeck Flats, NY his name is given as John Henrick Dietz, a resident of Rhinebeck Precinct. John Henry was born 1724 at Hoogedutsland, German. His grandson said they lived in the Palatinate area, on the Rhyne River. He died June 27, 1823, age of 99 years.
