| "I first met Aunt Lena at the funeral of my maternal grandmother, the daughter of the oldest Campau sister. In the confusion at my grandmother's home in Mt. Clemens, Macomb County, before and after the final ceremonies Aunt Lena seemed to be relishing in the presence of the few relatives who could understand her first language.
