"Politically, Mr. Teats has been a life-long Democrat and has filled the office of justice of the peac and township clerk, acting in the latter capacity for about eight years. His official service has every been performed in a capable, painstaking, and conscientious manner, whereby he has fully justified the trust reposed in him by his fellow townsmen. He and his wife hold membership in the Catholic Church of Mt. Clemens, and he belongs to the American League. While there have been no exciting chapters in his career his course has been marked by fidelity to duty in all life's relations and as the years have passed he has gained not only success but an honorable name as well."17

May 27th. A well known Harrison Twp man passed away at Washington Sanitarium. At 7 o'clock last evening, Arthur T. Teats succumbed to the frightful burns he recieved ten days ago, when after the big steam tractor on which he was riding had fallen into a deep pit at the corner of Robertson and S. Gratiot Ave, the man lay semi-conscious in a mass of flames. The fire was caused from ignition of gas from a broken main, with a spark from the engine firebox. It later developed that before the unfortunate man could be removed from the furnace-like heat, a number of his intestinal organs had been fairly cooked. The shock of the accident, combined with age and man's inability to take food, brought about the final end. Funeral will be Wed at 9:30 in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetary. |
